For your learning enjoyment…
A week ago Friday, many people turned up to march in the We Love Wanganui parade. The parade was organized by the Wanganui Chronicle (city newspaper) and the government as way to declare that Wanganui is still a safe place to live and raise a family in spite of the recent gang violence that prompted a drive by shooting that killed a two-year-old girl. These pictures are taken as people filed into Majestic Square where speeches were given by the mayor, a couple people that are in parliament, the chief of the local Maori tribe, the chief of police, and the editor of the Wanganui Chronicle. The local catholic priest prayed a prayer and everyone prayed the Lord’s Prayer. This was my first big community event and I was glad to be apart of it.
Here are some pics from that event…

Also, in recent news I purchased a car. Here is “Roxy” my lovely ’89 Mazda Familia.

I got a pretty sweet deal on her and have enjoyed driving her and have appreciated the independence that she has helped me have. She is classified as a boy racer car, which is not at all what I had planned on getting, but it has proved to be a fun thing to spark conversation with students. They know when I am coming because of the muffler is the kind that doesn’t muffle the exhaust but instead makes it sound louder than it really is. I’m praying that God will bless Roxy with long life and reliability. ☺
More to come…
Much love,
Mel

You should call her “Foxy Roxy”….
