Fun on the Farm
Once again it has been ages since I posted. Once again I apologize. Maybe because of the heaps of pictures I am including in this post you can find it in your heart to forgive me.
A week ago Friday I joined Shirley, Dean (Shirley’s fiance’) and Michelle (Dean’s sister and my friend) on a trip up to Reporoa and Rotorua. Shirley has family on a farm up there and so as to help me get a fuller Kiwi experience and to also give me a break from things here in Wanganui, away I went. We stayed with her sister who raises calves and we also helped her brother on his dairy farm with a little milking. I learned alot and have an even greater respect for farmers and the hard work they put in. Enjoy the pics!
Hugs,
Mel

Starting the batch of pics comes a photo of a Kiwi must-have…Gum Boots!!

They are even cute when they are sucking on your fingers! I never knew quite what calves slobber was like until this weekend!

What do you think….could I make a dairy farmer?

So, while I was helping milk the cows I got pooed on! “Ewh!”

Shirley explaining to me how to “wash the yard”. Basically using a firehose to wash down the area where the cows stand before and while they are being milked.

New Zealand is famous for them and I have to tell you they are quite cute…lambs!!

The road trip crew- Dean, Shirley, Michelle and I ready to go opposum shooting…another Kiwi thing to do

Hot and Cold Water Creek. Gorgeous, aye?! Can you see the angel rays?

Great pictures! Glad you’re having such a good time. Not sure I’d be up for cow poo or opposum hunting, but then again I did eat a cow eye once… The things we do
